Parkinson's specialist Personal Trainer Birmingham

Dan Height is a Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainer in West Birmingham.

“I’ve been working in the health and fitness industry for over 20 years. My passion has always been helping people improve their health, fitness, and overall wellbeing no matter their age, background, or ability. I started my career at David Lloyd Leisure. Over the 12 years I spent there, I gained a wealth of qualifications, knowledge, and experience by working with a wide range of clients and teaching classes from advanced indoor cycling to high-energy circuit training. During this time, I had the privilege of coaching some incredible athletes, including members of the England Cricket Team, West Bromwich Albion Football Club, ex-professional footballers, and disabled athletes training for throwing and racing events.

Expanding Into Rehabilitation

After leaving David Lloyd Leisure, I shifted my focus towards rehabilitation, working with clients who had sustained traumatic brain injuries. Many of these individuals required both physical and mental support, often dealing with complex rehabilitation needs and challenging behaviours. Working closely with Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists, I helped rebuild my clients’ strength, mobility, and confidence.

I now work with clients with a range of challenges including Parkinson’s. As a Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainer in West Birmingham, Helping you achieve your goal, however big or small, is my priority .”

Personal Training for People with Parkinson’s in Birmingham

Personal Training can be an incredibly effective tool to help you manage your Parkinson’s and live well with the condition. There is now extensive evidence showing us that the right exercise, nutrition and lifestyle programmes can reduce symptoms, slow progression and make you feel better. Understanding and implementing the right programmes can be extremely difficult. Regular appointments with a properly qualified Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainer in Birmingham offer the most effective way to reap the benefits that are available. Your Personal Trainer should have a Parkinson’s specific qualification, relevant experience, full insurance, as well as knowledge of how to work with a multi-disciplinary team (MDT). All members of the National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers satisfy these conditions.

The National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers

Until recently it has been extremely difficult for people living with Parkinson’s to find a properly qualified personal trainer. The National Register of Parkinson’s Specialist Personal Trainers (NRPSPT) has been created to solve this problem. Set up and run by 4D Life in partnership with Parkinson’s UK, the register recruits, trains and monitors personal trainers to work locally with people with Parkinson’s. We work with CIMSPA to help us ensure all members of the register are Level 3 or 4 qualified Personal Trainers, fully insured, and have completed a Parkinson’s specific training programme prior to inclusion on the register. Dan Height is an NRPSPT member in Birmingham.
