Is Breakfast Really That Important? By The 4D Personal Trainer in Oxford
Are you one of many people who prefers to hit the snooze button instead of having breakfast? Fear not, you do not snooze alone!
Break the fast. Ever think of what “breakfast” means? Your body responds to not eating for hours and hours by slowing down it’s metabolic rate. By eating breakfast you wake up your metabolism and get your body’s system kickstarted and ready for the day ahead. Researchers have repeatedly shown that people who eat breakfast have a better chance of losing weight, and keeping it off. When you skip breakfast you’re so hungry by lunchtime that the foods your crave are often dictated by the rumble of your stomach wanting something IMMEDIATELY – and that is often something heavily processed of little nutritional value and quick!
Studies have also shown that people who eat breakfast are more alert and do better in their jobs than people who skip breakfast.
During a full night’s sleep your body rejuvenates. If you get to bed early enough (before 10:30) then you will have had full physical repair as well as full mental repair. When you wake up you will be dehydrated due to a lack of fluids during your 7-9 hour fast. We recommend drinking a glass of water when you first wake up to replace the fluids lost in the night and to try one of these quick to make energy filled breakfasts…
1. Oatcake + boiled egg or plain, organic, live, bio yoghurt
2. Protein shake (blog coming soon on shakes) with 40grams oats and banana blended
3. Raw oats, yoghurt, berries
4. Vegetable omelette
